How would the actors fare if they either found themselves in the world of their show/movie or woke up as their characters?

modern-day Georgie Henley (Lucy from the Narnia films) waking up in the body of eight-year-old Lucy from the first book/movie wouldn't find it easy in Second World War England or like the restrictions on small female children of the time.

This sort of thing has been a staple of fan-fiction for 50 years. Lots of story potential in it!

There were two early Star Trek stories done like this "Visit to a Weird Planet", which had the actual bridge crew of the Enterprise materialize in Hollywood on the Desilu set. The sequel was "Visit to a Weird Planet, Revisited", was what happened when Shattner, Nimoy, Kelly, Nichols, etc. wound up on the bridge of the actual Enterprise--under attack by a Klingon ship.

Good times, good times.

I can't remember what the episode is called, but there was an episode of Supernatural where Sam and Dean were transported to our world. Interesting writing as you had the actors playing characters who were playing their respective actors.

Might be what you're looking for.
