Having earlier taken the precaution of emptying Wallach's revolver, Eastwood turns to him and utters the immortal lines: 'You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns. And those who dig. You dig.' --Niall Ferguson, The Square and the Tower.

For that matter, Dan Gregory was the only illustrator I ever knew who expected his pictures to take their places among the great art treasures of the world, who used materials which might really do what Sateen Dura-Luxe was supposed to do: outlast the smile on the "Mona Lisa."

The scabs of reality are picked away and beneath them, though I try not to see, are visions which cause me to tremble.

James Salter, A Sport and A Pastime.

I just started reading this book, and I'm not to page 59 yet. I'll be interested to read this in context!

Loose Leaf Salad
Often fast growing and compact this diverse range of crops is perfect for smaller gardens. "Garden Rescue" by Jo Whittingham.

Actually I was turned to the page on Hostas but read most of page 59 too. If anyone is interested, the Loose Leaf Crops are arugula, lettuce, mizuna, chard, spinach and herbs. I myself will stick to lettuce and herbs but there they are.--s6

From The Ghana Reader, edited by Konadu and Campbell

The passage is from a poem mourning the loss of the Denkyira to a rival kingdom sometime in the 1600s:

Ntim Gyakari,
The wealthy noble
Who led its nation to doom at Feyiase
Grandchild of Ntim Gyakari hails from Feyiase
