Didn't get as much writing done this week as I'd hoped, but still plugging along on the Camp project. Started a new book (Oliver Sacks' MIGRAINE) and while I'm enjoying it, it's slow going. I got all my exercise sessions in this week, so yay for that.
Most of my activity has been of the yard-work variety. I was in NYC nearly all of last year, and gardening is not my husband's forte, so everything is weed-cluttered and overgrown. I'm stiff as hell from all the bending and stooping and squatting, but we got the sawgrass plants cut back (a HUGE job), cleared the thistles out of the veggie plot, assembled and filled the birdbath and fountain, and picked up most of the dead branches knocked out of the trees during recent windstorms. Today's big job will be pruning back the dwarf weeping cherry tree that's the centerpiece of our ornamental garden, something I usually do in the fall. It's going to kill me to cut off all those freshly leafed branches, but the thing is a mess and I can barely move through the garden without tripping over trailing branches. Once that's done and the garden generally tidied up, we'll have to get everything mulched and figure out how to keep the deer and squirrels out of the veggie patch this year. Good thing we have decent weather this weekend.
