I would agree with this but add that it's really hard to get that right. For sure I don't have the skills to do it. I watched non-Natives tell the same jokes, tease my husband with the same stereotypes he himself might have used, and it felt...really off. Even coming with lots of good will. There are plenty of stereotypes--some very well earned!!--on the rez about white folks and it doesn't always feel great to be on the receiving end. It's interesting how some people/circumstances work really well to address the stereotypes and others...don't and can be seriously cringe-worthy
