There's been another school shooting, this time in Maryland. The shooter is dead and two students were wounded, one critically.

One person is dead after an armed student shot two other students at Great Mills High School in Maryland on Tuesday morning, according to St. Mary's County Sheriff Tim Cameron.
Cameron said the school resource officer engaged the shooter and ended the threat, and the shooter was pronounced dead. A male student is in stable condition and a female student is in critical condition, he said.
The school resource officer fired a round at the shooter, and the shooter fired a round as well, but the officer was not injured.

The 16-year-old female student was stabilized and transferred to UM Prince George's Hospital Center, and the 14-year-old male victim is in good condition, according to the MedStar St. Mary's Hospital.

it's gonna be very ironic to find out whether or not the shooter attended the walkout last week.

also in the article...it said another student called CNN during the shooting. and i'm like "who has CNN on speed dial? cuz if i'm in the middle of an shooting evac...i sure as heck aint' thinkin about calling CNN--to have to look up the number, which might take a bit of hunting..."

While the motive is still being determined, it appears to have been domestic violence with the shooter specifically targeting the 16-year-old girl who was critically wounded. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo...163/shooting-reported-at-maryland-high-school

"There is an indication that a prior relationship existed between the shooter and the female victim," Cameron added. "We are working as we speak to determine if that was and, if so, the extent of that and if it was part of the motive for this shooting."

According to The Bay Net, a southern Maryland news site, authorities investigated potential threats to Great Mills High School last month after reports circulated on social media.

The news site said the school principal said in a letter to parents that the school and law enforcement assessed the threat and that it "has not been validated at this time." At Tuesday's press conference, the sheriff said authorities are investigating whether anything on social media is linked to this attack.

Sounds like there were warning signs that may not have been taken seriously. My guess is that he was stalking this girl and the authorities failed her, as is so sadly common.

The March For Life is tomorrow, and many cities are having local events. Unfortunately, I can't go to ours, as I have a prior commitment. My spouse plans to attend, though.
