I don't think any guys really talk like this surely not to themselves. I can't imagine anyone saying "Dat Ass" to himself. Like Harlequin said it's just a lot testosterone bouncing for machismo.

thick, in the uk, still means stupid >.>

Ironically, this is what made it so hard to figure out why my son's classmates were calling certain people "thick" in what was clearly an admiring tone. It was quite the "Who's on first?" situation.

I have about five more contemporary terms and three more jokes to toss out, but this is exactly how I get myself in trouble. No, people (guys, let's be honest) don't talk this way for the most part. I haven't had a conversation like this since high school, and my involvement then was mainly 'ew, gross, but I gotta play along'. But there is a certain cachet to the booty in modern culture :p

Our modern culture sure does like the booty. I think it is a music thing. Freedom to talk about it in a different way than in past generations. I know I walked to school up hill both ways in the snow. I am not that old. There is something about this generation and the booty.

Well, I'd say it's a fascination as old as time. Isn't The Golden Ass one of the great works of Roman literature? And during the Renaissance, when Sir Francis Drake sailed out on The Golden Hind? Clearly, they had one thing on their mind.

*Not gonna put a sarcasm emoji, you're gonna have to figure out if I've being serious or not*

I do not ever remember reading of a person resting champagne on their rump. No, I think it is something about this generation. A big round caboose is sexy to them. I guess the renaissance era loved the gut. Maybe it is a fad. Or maybe it is here to stay.

James Joyce's love letters to his wife. NSFW; consider yourself warned in that regard. Safe to say he had quite the fixation with posteriors, in more than one sense.

It's definitely not a trend, but I suppose we might be more aware of it now that society is more interconnected. There was a Renaissance painter whose name escapes me, who kept getting in trouble in art classes because he always insisted on drawing the nude models with hips far bigger than they actually had. A woman should have great big childbearing hips, he insisted, and so he sketched them thus.

I do not recall Chaucer being a dirty dog, but then again I have not read anything in 20+ years. I think I was in 12th grade.

I'm dying. You killed me. Shrimpsdad wins the internet for the day. Yeah, I'd say the 'celebration of booty' comes out of hip-hop, has certainly become a thing in mainstream culture. And with Nikki Minaj and Cardi B, I doubt it's going away. Read an interesting article a few years ago about economic conditions and how they shift ideas of feminine beauty, can't find the link & and beyond the scope of this discussion (which I need to stop following), but an interesting topic.

My cousin will sometimes look at a girl, sigh and mutter, "I'm such an ass-man." He says it like it's his weakness. He never really comments on girls bodies, he just labels himself as an ass-man. It's always been interesting to me because he's not womanizing, he's just acknowledging his own likes. It's a really gracious way to admire someone's body.

Thicc is in right now. lol I've started seeing a few comments on IG that say, "Them cakes!" Pound cakes, devil cakes, you can go crazy with that one. I've always found any expression with a, "damn" works really well when it comes to butts.

Blog article discussing a huge data analysis of search terms used for pornography. The three most searched for body parts by men, in order of popularity, are chest, butt, and then feet.

So apparently people think about it with some frequency (according to data), and my pure speculation is that it has something to do with biology.

I don't think the bodily attributes we notice about one another has changed one bit since the whole apple in the Garden thing, but which ones it is socially acceptable to talk about has changed. It's probably gone back and forth in each culture in each age.

Reading about writing... less of the actual writin
(I don't want this to show up in the feed)

*sighs*

Turd-cutter. Yes. As in, 'Hey check out that lady at the club, she's got a really nice turd-cutter'. Don't ask me where I heard this, but I swear it's thing.

UGH! WHY????

In England we use(d to) 'fit' a lot to descibe a nice/sexy body, or general nice appearance. "He's fit" (you have to cuff the T sound). I have teenage cousins but I kind of don't want to ask. Do urban dictionary help?

What age are we talking about? Men of different ages refer to women's ... attributes in different ways.

I have hung around on this planet for a long time, (and I'm a guy) and I've never heard the phrase turd cutter. Not ever.

:Swears:

Thankfully, the term had a limited bubble of popularity. Somehow never went mainstream. According to urban dictionary, it was made popular by the movie Glory Daze.

I left for a few days, and I didn't expect to come back to a wealth of wonderful advice. Thanks everyone, and I have a pretty good idea where I'm going to go with this now.

Thanks again everyone. And if I may be excused, I have something important to tend to. Her butt must be acknowledged, and acknowledge it I will.

Currently, it would be along the lines of "damn, she thicc" or something like that. Other people said thicc, too, and yeah, that's the way it's weirdly spelled in this context :tongue
