Not sure I'm in the correct place, but here goes. I updated my profile picture in my Settings, but the old picture shows up in my new posts.

The picture that appears with your posts is your avatar. The profile picture is the one that appears on your profile.
So if you want the new picture to appear beside your posts, you would set it as your avatar.

You've updated your Profile picture, not your Avatar.
