Definitely nothing against non-fiction which I love. You can never top it for its ability to draw you in for hours and give rich detail.
I enjoy podcasts too and if an author talks about her new book on a long podcast, that is okay, I'm cool with it, and it's often enough. Sometimes a podcast makes me want to check the book out. I now want to delve deeper, yes. I open the book already knowing the theses statements and some depth of proof.
Then it becomes my personal taste in reading, is the reading experience pleasurable? If yes then definitely 100% finish that book and 100% feel lucky I found one that cuts through my perhaps inferior eye.
As information delivery and entertainment, podcasting can be superior. I still read a lot.
