I know Spring is here when I see 3 things:

1. The traditional robin
2. The first motorcycle on the road
3. The first garage sale sign

What's your signs of Spring?

I'm hearing robins, but not seeing any yet!

Signs of spring:

The first time the rain doesn't make it colder (hasn't happened yet!)
Daffodils coming up (happening!)
Sunlight at 6 pm (getting there!)
First coffee sitting outside without feeling cold (almost happened today!)

When the raft of small bulbs I planted into the lawn behind my kitchen window start to bloom. So far I have one bunch of snowdrops up but not not bloomed. It's early for them, so I think they're nervous. Snow is a very real possibility for at least the next 3-4 weeks.

There are 3 crocuses and a little tuft of snowdrops in my backyard!!! And lots of daffodils and tulips spiking their foliage all over my lawn.

I'm just afraid that we'll get slammed with another hard freeze like we did last year. Some of my flowers did not take it well.

The tree's sprout little green buds
ice roads melt and the lake ice becomes what we call "honeycomb"
I can pack away my winter boots and wear runners outside
The snow melts and we can get into camp.
Walleye opens
The deer(whitetail bucks) grow their antlers back
Late spring I can cut lilacs and put them in a vase, oh they smell so good!

My backyard is still full of snow! :)

Seeings as how you live north of me, I'll share an experience I had. I was living in the mountains near Lake Tahoe, CA. I moved to Bellingham, WA. I moved from late winter to spring in one day as I drove down the mountain. :)

I'll let you know when spring is on its way to you. :tongue

When the peach blossom tree opens its first flower, and sunlight peeks passed 6pm. (Also, the humidity starts rising back to its usual sauna moisture levels.)

Not much sign of spring where I am. We've had blizzards, red weather alerts (threat to life and property) and chaos on the roads and rail and lots of places closed.

Normally, the first sign of spring are snowdrops (the flowers, not the weather!) and daffodils. And the first day I leave work (at 5pm) in the light instead of the dark and being able to drive to and from work without the headlights on. Which would be the case, were it not for the snowclouds and blizzards. Right now I'm not driving anywhere because the car's covered in a layer of snow and ice.

British weather's never been one for such conventions as "it's supposed to snow in winter, not spring" though.

We have robins almost year round in Oklahoma, so I can't count that one. Daffodils - check... but we've had an unusually warm winter and they've been blooming for weeks. I'm left with the sound of the first lawnmower firing up to scalp the yards... heard that one yesterday. Add that to the Carolina Wren looking for a nest site just outside the screen room and I think it's here! But... given that it IS Oklahoma, we could get 12" of snow next week, so...

Once upon a time ,when I lived on the old family farm, the first sign of spring was the Telephone Company repair trucks in the driveway.

Wha?

There's a railroad line that intersects the property away down by the river and in nearly spring... quail season comes in for the hunters.

Even though the rail line is not public property... quail hunters would walk the line going from one place to another.

Quail hunters, as I have learned, carry shotguns loaded with 'birdshot' an ever-widening spray of propelled wee bits.

They'd walk along the tracks with their loaded guns and often their sound would startle a quail.

The amount of reaction time it takes a hunter to raise their shotgun and fire...

is often about when the the quail reaches telephone line height.

Ergo, wee bits propelled into phone lines.

Enough wee bits propelled into the overhead phone lines and service becomes disrupted...

When enough complaints were lodged about disrupted service...

I got Telephone company repair trucks in my driveway.

The trees here just started blossoming though I can never tell if they're peach or plum.

The signs here are a bit different from back home but:
Sakura-flavoured everything returns to the stores.
The vent in my apartment needs to be opened at all times or it's too stuffy.
I start contemplating how to make a homemade screen for my balcony door.
I can go for runs in one layer.
It's warm when it rains.

Prosaic answer, but when British Summertime commences, which will be later this month.

I always feel like I can take a deeper breath. There is something claustrophobic about night settling in in late afternoon.

There's a different quality to the light--like the world is taking a deep breath. Other than that, the green leaves of daffodils popping up before they bloom and the pastel buds on the plum trees are my telltale signs. Ahhh, Spring is almost here!!

What's your signs of Spring?

When we start not replacing stuff from the fridge / pantry that we finish, and adjust our grocery purchases, due to Passover, which starts on Friday evening, 30 March, this year.

(That means having to drink all the beer, whisky, whiskey, etc.

What a burden.)

Autumn? Is that when your heat waves start to subside?

:D

The gardeners showed up, marking the beginning of the yard work season. It's still cold but the yard looks nice and if I look hard I can see green coming back to the grey parts of the forest.
