I am looking for books in the medieval-type fantasy genre in which a princess (or other important female protagonist) has lost (or is in danger of losing) her throne (or something else important to her) and hires (or for some other reason is helped by) a knight (or thief or mage or demon or fairy or whoever) to help her regain (or protect) whatever her goal is. She doesn't have to be in a bad place at the beginning, she could also be ignorant of her rightful claim to the McGuffin (throne, wealth, etc.), but what I'm looking for is that she needs help, finds a helper, and the two (or more) of them manage to reinstall her to her right (or overcome a threat to it).
As an example, there is some of that in Cinda Williams Chima's Seven Realms series, where Han helps Princess Raisa against the Wizard Council.
