Has anyone else read this book. I loved it.
Its a post-apocalyptic story about a young couple who decide to kidnap a child from a bad situation...or so you think. The book breaks a lot of structural rules and almost reverses them. I won’t give spoilers, but the book makes promises about what it is and then continually breaks those promises. I found myself truly surprised at some of the plot twists. Her prose is excellent (and varies). There are some weird POV switches and it even breaks into a totally unrelated short story in the middle (I didn’t love this part, but respected it).
As someone who is struggling trying to wrangle a non-standard plot into something sellable, it was refreshing to know that this book exists and that a publisher put it out.
I’d like to hear your thoughts. From Goodreads, it seems like the book is polarizing.
