My knee jerk response is to name them simply Fossils. Since they run on fossil fuel, but also it can be a derogatory reference to old technology being out dated. "Seriously? You bought a car that runs on fossils?"
"It's vintage, man. Classic!"
"It stinks!"

I'm going to just throw out a ball of words from top my head, imagining it to be the kind of slang people will use. Smokers, smoggers, foggers, bangers (referencing the explosion/noise), putters, blocks (as in, engine block), greasers, greaseys, chokers (air quality), busters (internal combustion), busts ... My mind appears stuck on 'er words, today.
