Happy New Year, and welcome to the first goal thread for 2018! This is where we (NaNoers, former NaNoers and Not NaNoers alike) can post our goals for the coming month and track our progress, while cheering on our fellow travelers. So state those goals, and let's make the start of this New Year a great one!

As usual, I'll get us started. Many of mine are holdovers from last year, and I swear now that the holidays are just about over that I'm going to make some real progress this month. My third goal may get revised once I know for certain what my publisher will want from me (I expect it's going to be a bunch of guest blogs). Goal 7 is something I'm actually looking forward to doing - I love organizing, and our basement laundry room/storeroom is a mess. And since I have time on my hands (actorspeak for "unemployed), I can start blogging again - something I've been hoping to do.

[ ] 1. Reach 20k words on Book 5 - currently at 9,068
[ ] 2. Read five books - 0 of 5
[ ] 3. Prep for February 20th release of third book in series
[ ] 4. Exercise (any kind) 30 minutes each day - 0 days of 31
[ ] 5. Lose five pounds before the end of the month - 0 of 5
[ ] 6. Write Sekrit Solstice story
[ ] 7. Clean out and reorganize storeroom
[ ] 8. Write one blog a week, on whatever topic takes my fancy - 0 of 5

What are you planning for the first month of 2018? Don't be shy - everyone is welcome!

I'm in again. :) It was great to have a list to tick off when I got stuff done. It motivated me where I would have otherwise slacked off to have the list visible to others too.

Starting off the year fairly easily. I'm not adding the exercise/activity thing because I think I'm pretty much in a routine with that, and that'll be going on for the rest of my life.

[ ] Read two books
[ ] Write sisyfus story
[ ] learn how to do something new in photoshop
[ ] complete current story
[ ] work on knitted blanket when temps permit – I’m hoping to get that finished before winter
[ ] revise pattern for cable tunic – I’m making it for my sister and I need to add in some stitches to make it big enough for her. This should be interesting because I’ve never altered a knitted pattern before.
[ ] prune plants and tidy up the garden

[ ] Complete half of secret project
[ ] Start Sisyphus story

Happy New year everyone :)

I have another busy month with non-writing tasks to occupy my time so I’ll be keeping it simple:
[ ] Read 2 books
[ ] Write two blog posts.
[ ] Complete edit on one chapter of novel.
[ ] Start Sisyphus story.
[ ] Create 2x bullet journal (1=life + 1=writing)

Happy New Year everyone!
My every day goal for this year is to edit every day. I had fun writing a lot of content last year, but now I have a backlog I need to go through. I'm going to give myself weekly line items for that one this time, though. That way I have things to check off more often ;) (I'm continuing my writing every day, but with a lower word count and I'm just going to track that with my streak on 4thewords.)

[ ] Sort the give-away pile.
[ ] Give away the give-away pile.
[ ] Read Lullabies for Little Criminals for book club.
[ ] Read *insert name from the Pick 12 challenge here* (I haven't gone to look at the 2018 prompts yet, so I don't have my list :tongue)
[ ] Edit every day: Week 1
[ ] Edit every day: Week 2
[ ] Edit every day: Week 3
[ ] Edit every day: Week 4
[ ] Edit every day: Week 5 (December portion)

I'll join in, because why not. It'll be motivation to follow through on writing resolutions and whatnot.

So, simple list of goals:
☐ Work on the second draft of Papillon
☐ Get started on the magical-girl-pirates series-thing
☐ Eat (and in general, be) healthier
☐ Keep negativity out of my life

Feeling unusually focused this January, which is good, because I've overbooked myself with stuff to do and need to keep a hard, steely eye towards accomplishing all of it.

[¯\_(ツ)_/¯] Finish Sisyphus project. Going great so far!
[Not gonna happen right now] Undisclosed.
[X] Finish the chapter I am beta-ing for one author.
[X] Make substantial progress on the novel I've been beta-ing for another author.
[X] Video games.

Happy New Year, everyone! I am on the other side of Australia, having driven across the Nullarbor with my sister. We made it in time for my Gran's funeral - they pushed the funeral back later to give us time to get there and we compressed our trip while still being able to have a enjoyable trip rather than a mad rush across. I can't really say that's nice because funeral, but it was good, and it was good to see all the family despite the circumstances.

I have my computer because it drove with me (not literally. we drove it) but still another week before I get all my furniture and boxes. I'm a little lost without my book I put my goals in. I can't sum up my last year or make January goals! I mean, I could do the latter, but it feels weird. I probably going to be in deal with aftermath of moving stage for the rest of the month, but I'm hoping to get a few things done anyway. I'll make proper goals once I have my book. At least on this side of Australia I can borrow some work appropriate clothes from my sister and a fancy blow up mattress to sleep on from a friend and that kind of thing :)

So for now that is my only goal:

1. Survive aftermath of move.

Glad you're back with us, Tamlyn - and Kjbartolotta, please pass some of that "unusually focused" my way, 'cause I'm feeling just the opposite right now.

Saoirse, what is "housewalking?"

So I'm a little late joining, but not too much, so that's a win. Trying to find that work/life balance because yeah, that helps, but here are my goals for January:

[ ] Complete a draft for Sisyphus
[ ] Write fiction 3x/week
[ ] Work on blog posts 2x/week
[ ] Spend a couple of hours brainstorming/plot bunneh breeding/week
--[ ] 7th - 13th
--[ ] 14th - 20th
--[ ] 21st - 27th
--[ ] 28th - Feb 3rd
[ ] Stick with Keto Diet
[ ] Spend time for mental clarity/brain organization
[ ] Build and use my bullet journal

I was doing so well writing regularly for awhile, so I really want get back in that habit. It makes my brain happy.

Housewalking is just walking in your house. For exercise. It is too cold to walk outside right now.

Update:

[x] Covenant words - 713
[] Start on Survivor rewrite
[x] Words on another WIP Oubliette : 1206 words
[] Start housewalking

Not a bad week, all told. All the leftover goodies from Christmas have either been thrown out or frozen, and now that the holidays are over and guests have departed, I'm not compelled to make big, elaborate meals, nor drink so many festive concoctions. Consequently, while I haven't started that exercise program yet, I have already dropped three pounds of holiday bloat. I want to take down the holiday decorations this week, so I've added that to my goals.

I didn't work on my WIP this week, but I did write a blog (about the foxes that have been visiting my yard). I've not begun my Sisyphus story yet, either, but I have started doing both a daily prompt and signed up at a site where you write 750 words daily. Yesterday I just free-associated, to get the juices running, but my plan is to use it to get me out of the get-it-perfect-before-you-move-on box I've put myself in.

Still working on The Killers of the Flower Moon. It's an interesting narrative, but it's not really pulling me through the book. I'm only at the halfway point.

[ ] 1. Reach 20k words on Book 5 - currently at 9,068
[ ] 2. Read five books - 0 of 5
[ ] 3. Prep for February 20th release of third book in series
[ ] 4. Exercise (any kind) 30 minutes each day - 0 days of 31
[ ] 5. Lose five pounds before the end of the month - 3 of 5
[ ] 6. Write Sekrit Solstice story
[ ] 7. Clean out and reorganize storeroom
[ ] 8. Write one blog a week, on whatever topic takes my fancy - 1 of 5
[ ] 9. Take down and store holiday decorations

I was going to hold off on posting until I'd finished the sci-fi story because I'm so close to being done. BUT, I figured I should probably get this posted before AW goes down for the server move next week. I'll update when I get the sci-fi story done... if I get it finished before the shut down. :)

[ ] Read two books 0.5/2
[ ] Write sisyfus story
[ ] learn how to do something new in photoshop
[ ] complete sci-fi story sooo close to being done!
[ ] work on knitted blanket when temps permit – I’m hoping to get that finished before winter- done about an inch or so on this, but we're heading into a heatwave so it's unlikely anything will get done on it for the next week
[x] revise pattern for cable tunic – only time will tell if I got it right. Still waiting on the yarn to be delivered.
[ ] prune plants and tidy up the garden

Well, what better time than after AW's break to note progress?

☑ Work on the second draft of PapillonAct 1 finished, at 23k! Act 2...I'll get around to today, honest!
☐ Get started on the magical-girl-pirates series-thing – ...I don't even have names yet...
☑ Eat (and in general, be) healthier – Much less pop and junk food!
☐ Keep negativity out of my life – Ehh, could be doing a better job on this.
