Well, I HAD A DISASTER!!!! My computer crashed and I lost the current file I had open at the time of the crash. 10,000 word story (the beginnings of a novel) GONE!!!

Up until that point I had written 2,500 words this week.
Edited 2,000 words

Read, "Small Gods" By Terry Pratchett.
"Flow My Tears, the Policeman said." by Philip K Dick. Also read "A Maze of Death" by him and "Nick and the Glimmung." (enjoyed them all).

I've downloaded some recovery software to try and retrieve my file, but I don't hold out hope...looks like I'm re-writing :(

Konstantineblacke:

If you use Word, Windows, and you saved the file at any time....

1. Open the document. File, Recent. See if a timestamp version is listed. If there is one, click on it and it might be restored.
2. If #1 does not work, and your computer is enabled with it.... Right click the Word file (saved somewhere). Click Properties. Click "Previous Versions" tab. If it is listed there, try to restore it.
3. If you manually created a system restore point, before the crash, you can revert to it. If not, skip this step.

You're welcome. No promises, but some things to try. Make sure to keep a restore point (noted how to do it on the previous versions tab), to activate those previous versions in the future.

Local Chapter of RWA meeting today. Met authors from my state. Swapped tips.
Yesterday over 1100 words.
This week: plotted out remaining chapters of my current WiP.
Next book's character is whispering at me, as well as three more down the line a bit.
Looking forward to camp NaNoWriMo start.

A bit of chaos this week, with people laying new carpet in my house and having to pack and move furniture and to write (or not) in a different place, so less than my quota got done, but still more fleshing out of material than last week. So great progress, regardless.

Edited: 1.5 chapters

(Old Word Count: 3358
New word count: 5734)

Total: 2376 new words

This week I did better after recovering from the crash of last week and all those lost files.

I managed 8400 words (almost got back the 10000 word story that I'll never see again, lost in the ether LOL).

No editing, just frenzied writing :snoopy:

Read, Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods" and Ernest Cline's "Ready Player One."

Finished novel, started critting fellow writer's 15 page submission (5 pages in), took crits on first 15 of novel (which lead to rewrites of the beginning) and pages edited, lastly 683 words during CampNaNoWriMo sprint session on Wednesday.

Since I was ripping out and putting back in, word count is basically unknown. Page count was 46.

Been trying to plot and figure out protagonist/antagonist mirror for Camp project, but not having much luck there.
