Dusty writes westerns, but he's a huge friend to the writing community especially in the Ozarks and west, throughout Oklahoma and Arkansas. He's written 150 novels, and his most recent, the Mustanger and The Lady was turned into a film.
At any rate, his publisher announced this morning that Dusty and his wife Pat were seriously injured in a crash near their Arkansas home last night. As of noon Central time, Dusty was in a coma and Pat was in surgery for a spinal injury.
Please send a kind thought or prayer for them. Dusty is 80, and this recover isn't going to be easy.
