Only halfway through the month, and there's already a handful of AWers crossing the finish line, which means it's time for the annual Winners Thread! Come celebrate your victory and get your well deserved cheers.

Does anyone know when they open validation?

Also, I'm a wee bit sad. This is the first time in more than a year that I haven't had a work in progress. And I have no ideas right now. Feels like facing a giant sinkhole.

I reached 50k on Monday, and I'm now finished the book at 60,241 words

(My goal was 60k in less than 3 weeks, so I'm right where I want to be)

Huh, I didn't realize there was a separate thread for this.

The NaNo site actually has a "Goal Achieved On" stat (the 22nd for me) so that's quite convenient!

*blows the 50k-azoo for everyone who's won so far (not that you lose if you still wrote a bunch of words but not 50k words)* :partyguy:

I haven't validated yet because I like green, but NaNo's word count was only about 200 less than Scrivener's a bit ago, so I'm definitely a winner!

Okay, I validated so that I could read through it all and start editing

Does it count if you happen to finish the last few thousand words of a novel on November 26th after completing the outline of the sequel? It actually took me two years to get the 95k on this one.

Done. 50.640 words. Now I'll take a day or so to relax and then keep working. The last parts have been somewhat difficult to write since I'm in the mushy middle.

Done! Complete with my additional goals, too: beginning, middle, and end, running at PAR all month :tongue

I quite enjoyed that, actually. I'll have to keep that exact-word-count-goal thing in mind in the future.

I couldn't participate this year, so I'm envious of all who tried and thrilled for those who succeeded! Congratulations all!

Finally an update...

This was my first ever participation, which ended in failure, but that's okay.

I had some personal family tragedies that made me lose interest in writing, and made me go on a writing hiatus. I'm back now, and finally finishing up my book that I started writing back in November.

However, on reflection, I've realized that a novel wasn't meant to be for this story, but I think a series (or just a sequel after this one) would be good enough because I wanted to end this book on a cliffhanger anyway (like the original inception of the story).
