So, they purchased what for what? An Amazon Smashworlds etc competitor to compete, or something else, for some other reason..?

I suspect there's more info to come on this one.

Sometimes companies have assets which are more valuable, or useful, than the company itself :hat:

If Pronoun was bo0ught in a firesale, then it's more likely Curlz's supposition. If MacMillan bought Pronoun thought there was something there, then as blacbird stated.
