NaNoWriMo 2017: Word Count Thread

Sunday Nov 5th: 6028. MOOOORE.

3,698 today, all in one long session. 15,381 total. Writing battle scenes is awesome. I had more fun writing today than I have since... yesterday. This may turn out to be the best NaNo since my first back in 2004.

(I stopped because it was a palindrome)

10k. Wish I was digging this project more. It feels like work.

Sunday Nov 5 final total: 8059 (4007 of those done today).

Off to collapse into bed now.

Slogging away at 8,356 words. Starting to regret pantsing, but I'm making it work.

After a very productive 12 hour day of writing and editing:

Day 5: 4420

Total so far: 21793

Still moving slowly, gotta have a day where I ramp up my wordcount...

I did 805 words today for a grand total of 3,013 total in my novel so far.

The only problem with my word count is that I'm wondering if I should include chapter breaks, or even chapter titles in my total word count? So far, I'm not doing that.

1868 2525 words today, total of 13,185 13,842. Less than I had hoped, but too tired to do FFC or keep going tonight. (And besides, good enough is good enough!) Hooray for writing up until midnight struck!

So, technically I wrote over 7,000 words today.... but I lost 2,000 of them when my computer crashed. aslkdjakldjlaksdl. Stubbornly adding that 2,000 to my wordcount because they took me an entire hour to write damn it.

(Does rewriting a 2,000 word scene technically count as...revision? Even if you're writing from scratch?)

In that case (and using the case of how the NaNo site keeps track)

Day 1: 534/534
Day 2: 516/1050
Day 3: 490/1540
Day 4: 678/2218
Day 5: 807/3025

Still a long way to go till the 50k mark, but I'm slowly making my way there. I think once I finish the story, I should go back, and give each chapter a title along with the chapter number.

Day 5: 1895
Total: 13,271

Scrivener was giving me fits for about half an hour just now. In the project targets, it was showing the correct count but in the project stats, it was adding 60 words. I closed out of it and reopened the document and viola. It's showing 13,271.

Day 5: 2,031

Total: 11,093

Considering I was barely at my house this weekend, the fact that I managed to write at all is impressive.

November 6th: total of 10618. It's going well. Changing the way how the page looks on the screen gave me a nice boost and made me pound out 2k in about two hours. That's pretty neat.

(I know I will have to change it back eventually, but I forrmatted the word page so that it looks exactly like a pulp fantasy novel. Surprising what a difference that makes.)

Total: 8335

So far, so good.

Total so far: 18,165.

The plot is solid and the characters are good but my heart is still with my last WIP. This one isn't as warm-fuzzy as the last one and I'm also outside of my comfort zone which is a good thing, I guess.

Day 4: 123. Got working on a paid project and had to squeeze a scene in.

Day 5: 319. I think. I was watching TV and writing longhand during commercial breaks. I actually do better that way.

Total: 1600-something. Too tired to do math. Will bring everything up to date tomorrow.
