This site has been recommended to me by a couple sources, so I feel like I need to give it a try. I've been a writer since I was a kid, but only became really serious about the whole business 2 years ago. I am married with three older kids, all still living at home working on launching their own lives. I have a completed manuscript that is Historical Fiction, my favourite genre to read and I have begun a YA Fantasy as well. In between, I like to write short stories to round things out, though my novel writer's heart keeps trying to find some common thread to draw those together into a novel, so they may not be what I thought to begin with.
I love to read. I long for the day when I dont need a day job and my day is divided between writing and reading. I read widely and dont discriminate. :0) I love it all. I read Twilight, I am currently reading non-fiction Margaret Atwood. I adore many of John Irving's novels, Stephen King, Margaret George, Phillipa Gregory, Jack London, John Updike, Neil Gaiman, Ray Bradbury, Barbara Kinglover. And thats just 'adult' books! I have many favourites in 'kids' books as well. When I would read aloud with my kids, we would choose books from the banned lists just for fun.
I am here because writing is lonely. My friends and long suffering spouse read and love to discuss books, but though they valiantly try to hide it, they are bored to tears by discussions about the nuts and bolts of creating story.
