Hmmm...well, based on my familiarity with the rest of the cats, methinks it'll be the lemur or lynx, because I don't think any of the others have black ears. So....50-50 chance here:

The only cat I can think of with black ears is the caracal, but I have no idea how its name might connect etymologically to "black ears."

While the actor who played the little girl in the excellent film adaptation maintained a friendship with Gregory Peck the rest of his life, the actor who played Jem apparently didn't get along with her or Peck and would appear with them only a few times for photo shoots, insisting on being paid for each.
