It started as literary, but more than a few have expanded it, so I’ve just rolled with it. It’s all in fun anyway, right? :)

Snitchat is right, though I’d have accepted even just “Pacific Ocean” You’re up!

New Question:

When talking about languages, this term noun describes a written character that represents a word or a phrase.

You mean like the v for a verb or an n for noun (adv for adverb)? And there’s a word for that? Not sure I’m clear what the subject of the trivia question is? A character? A phrase?

Noun.

Apologies for the ambiguity; I've edited the question to ask for a noun.

What is an abbreviation?

Nope. :)

I’m still not entirely clear but am thinking a character that represents a word might be a way to describe shorthand...so:

shorthand?

I'll give this another day, then will provide the answer and a new question.
