Hi Geoff. My daughter is a theoretical physicist to. ( semi classical gravity). I have always prodded her towards writing ( she was runner up in a nation wide story competition in high school ) and managed to get her to take one creative writing unit in uni. So go for it, maybe i can get her to writing again if i can point to some like minded.

That's interesting. The theoretical physicists I know are kind of clumsy when it comes to the written word. But they do have good imaginations and that counts for a lot in writing; almost anyone can learn its mechanics but creativity can't be learned. I say give her a little prodding; maybe point out that Lewis Carrol was mathematician and Fred Hoyle a physicist.
