Chicago's mayor, Rahm Emmanuel, has launched a new section on the City of Chicago website, which pulls data from the EPA site the Federal Government scrapped last week.

https://www.cityofchicago.org/city/en/sites/climatechange/home.html

The City of Chicago wishes to acknowledge and attribute this information to the United States Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies for the decades of work that they have done to advance the fight against climate change. While this information may not be readily available on the agency’s webpage right now, here in Chicago we know climate change is real and we will continue to take action to fight it.

Increasingly, news about local acts of defiance are what give me a bit of hope.

It's the darndest thing. If you write fiction based on what really happens, it's so stoopid nobody will believe it.
The poet from Fresno, Ca said it best (talkin' about a character in one of his stories) -- "Oh, he knew what reality was, all right, but he was looking for something better."

There's another story around, alleging (on the basis of leaked e-mails) that the EPA has restricted official on-line news access to Fox News only. Like, yeah, EPA employees won't have any other source for obtaining news.

This administration's attempts to restrict public information are a clumsy farce, and they persist in fooling only themselves, and making themselves look almost as stupid as they really are, by continuing to do such shit.
