We were off for about 90 minutes, while we fixed a corrupted database table.

I want to thank those of you who saw the maintenance announcement and logged off instead of manically laughing and refreshing ;)

Ditto.

I logged off as soon as the notice appeared (managed to save what I was working on) and stayed off till this morning -then to my delight I saw you were back, earlier than anticipated. :hooray:

Uh sorry...I'll admit to being one of the ones that refreshed (though not while laughing maniacally). I was on my smart phone at the time and the notice was off-screen. When nothing loaded after a few refreshes I tried on a computer and that's when I saw the notice and meeped quietly out.

:(

But, like others have said, tks for all you do to keep the forums up and running here - continually learning so much every day! :)

I didn't see an announcement but then, it was 2:a.m. Any maniacal laughing was due to insomnia and the George Knap/ David Paulides interview I had to resort to in my distress! I thought you all went MISSING 411!--s6

*Sigh*

Server problem in the wee hours this AM. I'll be watching today, but the hamsters know I try to sleep at night . . .

Well, there's your problem. Sleeping at night is for losers! Be like me and stay up coughing and watching Law & Order on cable. The hamsters won't know what to do.

All I got was a lagging connection and then one of those Problems connecting windows. I figured it was due to maintenance or updates or something so I moved on.

We were down for about 90 minutes or so while some emergency database negotiations took place.

We're back, but dang, the hamsters hate working on a snow day.

Yesterday evening (2/28/2017) the server kept crashing. I checked on that website /isitdownforeveryoneorjustme, and the forums were down. Might've been a glitch

The server didn't crash; we were one of many sites affected by the Amazon outage yesterday.

We were offline for a few hours.

This is what happens when I sleep; the hamsters go crazy.

We're back now, and sorry for the outage.

Hey, AW's back!

*gives AW all the hugs*

I had to do the unthinkable and actually be productive for the last few hours. *shudders*

Thanks for getting it all up and running again, AW Admin. You're a superstar.

Hamsters again?

lol one time....i took my car in to a repair shop cuz the breaks were acting weird. the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong and then tried to suggest that maybe the rats were chewing on the wires.

so maybe it's rats...chewing on the wires here....that makes the forum blink offline for a brief period? hahahahahahahahah

We've lost landline phone service multiple times due to squirrels breaking into the junction box. I guess insulation on wires is tasty. I find it amazing that they use junction boxes made of something squirrels can gnaw through, though.

Maybe we need to up our hamster-proofing game, or find the best ways to bribe them.

In all honesty, this was essentially a badly behaved neighbor at the same time a bot herd tried to register thousands of new accounts.

It was too much and Apache (the actual Web server) said I ain't agonna and you can't make me, and lay down and died.

Total time wasn't really even two hours, but it took me a bit to get a decent connection, and that was probably due to weather here.
