We're back. Just under two hours to drive down there(including one mountain pass with tight cornering), an hour spent getting totally lost and asking for directions at almost every gas station, and then a two and quarter hour drive back. Coming back is longer because you're going uphill and there's lots of big rig trucks on the road, so overtaking can be tricky. But it was awesome. We saw baboons, a Cape Vervet monkey, giraffes, a few Kudus and lots of cows, sheep and goats. We passed the Addo Elephant Park but you wouldn't be able to see any of them from the road. :)

We ran out of time to go book shopping and to the plant nursery but we'll do that next time - now that we've got a better idea of the layout of the city. But for the next couple of months, my freezer is full and my grocery cupboards are bulging. :)

Be sure to pick up a cheesecake. :)

I did get a quiche. Does that count? :)

I haz a jealous, but have fun - Gonna pick up some shues, perchance?

No. :cry:I didn't. But I found the right mall. They have all the cool shoe shops. :snoopy: Next time!!!

This is the best used bookstore I've ever been to. They got as big as they are by doing trade-ins. You bring books you've read and get credit toward your purchase of new(really used, but new to you) books. It is a great way to keep in stock of what you want to read.

That's exactly what my hubs and I are thinking of doing. Like a book exchange, where you get a 1/3 of the cost of a book credited to your next purchase. :)

ETA: Back and look at the pic I was able to take with my phone.

Definitely cute and not what I expected when I went a googling for them. You mentioned baboons and ... well, they're known for one specific thing, and I definitely wouldn't call them cute.

Baboons and giraffes? Geeze, I'm happy if I see rabbits and deer while I'm driving.

I still don't see what's so hip about hipsters. Most of them look homeless.

It took me two solid minutes to figure out what specific thing balloons are known for and why ANYONE would call balloons cute. Ugh.

This is why I will never get work as an editor.

Today I have to do an equipment check thing with the new job because the equipment didn't work yesterday so they brought me new stuff this morning. I'm ready to e-mail the recruiter and tell him last night aliens broke in while I was sleeping, drank all of my booze, and used their computer to download Japanese stomping porn and filled their hard drive with gigs and gigs of Japanese girls in ridiculously large shoes stomping on things.

So I can't work today.
