I got a letter from ILL unemployment telling me my claim is being withheld for some reason and is pending a determination. I have no idea how much longer I'm going to have to wait.

I really hate this state.

Sorry, Ted. I've been having my own problems with sleep. Our boss isn't the best at instilling confidence in his employees.


For some lighter news, I'm off to my kid's birthday party - her 18th.

I'm sorry, Nate, that sucks.


I just found out my car might have a warped head after all. If that's the case, then it's off to the scrappers.

It just gets worse and worse.

Bosses suck. Unless they're me. I'm an awesome boss. Just ask my kids.

Yeah, Ted, I have to agree with you. I don't like to judge, but it sure does sound like IL is terrible, at least when it comes to unemployment.

This state does all kinds of stuff like that to avoid paying out claims. A huge number of clinics here won't take the state insurance because they don't get paid in a timely fashion, if at all.

Wow...I wish I knew what to say beside, "MOVE". I know that's not an option right now, but honestly, I'd be tempted.

I'm probably going to have to move in a few months anyways. Maybe sooner. I have a job waiting for me just over the state line in Monroe, which will give me a good reason to move back across the line once again.

I will soon have more space in the garage.
The pile of sewing machines that can not be converted to treadle;
about a dozen of them; all electric.
They are all going to Jamaica.

Not the landfill, no need to make new ones,
being given to those who want one,
will use one, and are being taught to use them.

I honestly have no idea.
Some person I haven't met is driving them to Atlanta,
then, I assume, after resting at LilB's
they'll be loaded to a boat.

There was a hint of 'missionary' work in the conversation, but I kept my mouth shut.
As long as something good comes out of it, I could care less what cult is responsible.

I just sent off my first submission of 2018. I fell much better now.


ETA: I got news on the car. They're going to see about machining the head to get it fixed. If that costs too much, my neighbor found a junker that runs and needs a bit of work, but the guy giving the car away already has the new part. If Option A and Option B don't work, his mother has an old Cavalier she's selling soon. So either way, I'll have a car eventually.

Slightly better news is better than bad news. I'll take it.
