The older version of this was on someone's awesome YA blog and recently got deleted or discontinued, so I decided to make an updated master list for 2017 that I'll be posting on my blog.

This list includes all publishers and imprints of young adult fiction, including Big 5, mid-sized (still having trouble defining that exactly), and small presses (some publishers go between mid-sized and small). Knopf confused me, for instance, since it's a publishing group but it's also owned by Random House.

Please let me know if I'm missing anything, have confused anything, or need to add an imprint or publisher :)

Flux is no longer part of Lewellyn. It's owned by North Star Editions (not to be confused with North Star Press) which also now owns Jolly Fish Press.

Not here, but there
You might want to take off Crushing Heart. They are horrible. Poor contract and all that.

You can add Clean Teen to the YA (Clean Reads list) I've seen a lot of their books do well. Seen some in libraries and book stores.

Cheering you all on!
A big reminder that any time you find a list of agents or publishers from any source, you should do more research into them, including searching Bewares, Recs, and Background Checks here on AW.

And I'm pretty sure Hallowed Ink closed. And Quirk Books isn't a part of F+W. (not completely sure on that, you'd have to check.)

I hate to keep bombarding the thread but I wouldn't call this a master list. There are quite a few that I don't see like Eerdmans, Small Beer Press, Jo Fletcher, Darkfuse, Peachtree and others. There's also UK publishers (not sure you want to add that on the list) but places like Hot Key and Little Pickle aren't mentioned.

And some of the small publishers may not be reputable. Like Sage said, you'd have to check their threads.

I appreciate this list, though. Especially the big 5 sub publishers. Those get confusing to me so a nice list is great :)

You can add Blue Swan Publishing to Small presses & digital publishers. I'm going to submit to them soon.

Great idea to start this list and look for add-ons. My YA novel was just published by Soul Mate Publishing. I hadn't queried them, but was discovered through an RWA sponsored contest. I would consider them small and digital. That might be one to add to your list. Novels would start out as an ebook with potential to go to print. I loved working with my acquiring editor, and they have a great author support group. I think they’re starting to take on more YA, especially paranormal, fantasy, and science fiction, although mine is contemporary.

Does anyone have any experience with Blue Swan Publishing?
Terms seem fine, but I'd like to know if anybody has already worked with them in the past.
Cheers

There is a thread for Blue Swan Publishing in Bewares, Recs, and Background Checks. It doesn't have a lot of info, but does have a link to another thread about a small publisher that was bought by the same company that owns BSP. I suggest bumping that thread and seeing if anyone has recent experiences or knowledge.

Thanks for this list and the add-ons.
It's good to have a list like this besides the ones you find in the Writers Yearbook as here you can get also feedback from people that have first-hand experience with some of them.

The last posts in this thread are 3 years old, so I would imagine many of these publishers may have closed or changed policies since earlier posts.

Also, please put any recent info on any publishers you know about in their threads in Bewares, Recs, and Background Checks. Thanks!
