How To Contact Your Elected Official
For American allies: Learn how to get in touch with your federal, state, and local elected leaders. The most immediate thing you can do is contact those already in politics and urge them to support minorities. Not just useful now, but every time discrimination is on the docket.
American Civil Liberties Union
Main page for the ACLU. Provides a long list of
calls to action,
information on your individual rights, and
a number of ways to donate. From the site: "For almost 100 years, the ACLU has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States."
Southern Poverty Law Center
Main page for the SPLC. From the site: "The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using litigation, education, and other forms of advocacy, the SPLC works toward the day when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality." The site to check if you suspect an organization or individual involvement in a hate group.

Anti-Defamation League
Main page for the ADL. Began life specifically to combat anti-semitism in America. From the site: "Now the nation's premier civil rights/human relations agency, ADL fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals and protects civil rights for all." Provides
a map to find your local chapter,
calls to action, and opportunities to
donate.
Planned Parenthood
From the site: "Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide" It is best to donate or volunteer at
your local health center, though there are a number of ways to
get involved with the national organization.
Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN)
The US's largest and most well respected anti sexual violence charity and advocacy group. They operate the National Sexual Assault Hotline (details below), orchestrate educational and community outreach programs to prevent sexual violence, and lobby lawmakers to bring perpetrators to justice.

National Sexual Assault Hotline
If you or someone you love has been the victim of sexual violence, RAINN provides confidential one-on-one support from trained crisis councilors who can point you to further resources. Please call 1-800-656-HOPE. A chatroom option is available (linked above) for those who cannot call.
Center for Reproductive Rights
A global lobbying organization seeking to secure reproductive rights around the world. From the site: "The Center for Reproductive Rights uses the law to advance reproductive freedom as a fundamental human right that all governments are legally obligated to protect, respect, and fulfill."
NARAL - Pro-Choice America
The oldest abortion rights advocacy group and political action committee in the US. Organized
volunteers through state affiliates to lobby local and national lawmakers to protect abortion rights. Provides some
online options for activism.
National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
Home of the powerful
Remember My Name campaign for those who lost their lives to domestic violence and abuse. From the site: "The vision of NCADV is to create a culture where domestic violence is not tolerated; and where society empowers victims and survivors, and holds abusers accountable."
State coalitions exist across the nation and are always in need of volunteers.
Reproductive Health Access Project
Connects primary care clinicians across 38 states and the District of Columbia to training opportunities in reproductive health and comprehensive care, and encourages the medical field to get involved in advocacy. Not a medical professional? Make a

EMiLY's List
Political action committee with the goal of electing pro-choice, Democratic women to public office. They provide
tools to get women into the races at all levels and run the
Women Vote! initiative.
She Should Run
A non-partisan alternative to EMiLY's List, She Should Run aims to get women of all stripes into public office. They provide training and
resources should
you wish to run for office and a
convenient form to ask a woman you admire to considering running.
Running Start Online
Founded in 2006 to address the absence of equal representation in government, Running Start provides internships, mentorships, and other resources to college-aged women with an interest in seeking public office.
