My editor finished the first pass...

...on my novel and she said:

"I have to say, this was the cleanest m/s I have worked on to date. Very nice. The story's flow and plot integrity was solid from start to finish."

I'm so glad I have a patient editor, and that we were ahead of schedule with this edit. In the two years this m/s was on sub, I've become so much more aware (thanks to reading the crits here at AW) about things like filtering, unnecessary dialogue tags, echoing, "that," and a host of other writers' pitfalls. When I started going over the m/s again, those things kept popping out at me like jabs to the eyes. My editor very kindly told me to go ahead with whatever edits I wanted to make. I've spent the last two days beating the m/s into better shape, and while I'm exhausted, I've got a crisper, leaner story to show for it.
