2,500/55,000 words. I've seen this in some signature blocks and have no clue what it means. Googled it, but that was no help.

Enlightenment is usually a good thing--thus my question. What does it mean?

It's the person's writing progress. It means someone has written 2500 words of a 55,000 word work.

Yeah, it just means the goal would be for it to be 55,000 and 2,500 is how much they have so far. It helps keep track of ongoing projects.
