If I'm in the middle of reading a book that I know has short chapters, I'm more likely to pick it up more often when I only have a few minutes to read (you, as a writer, might find this good or bad). I also will tend to read those for longer because I know that "just one more chapter" is only a few minutes of my time. So in my own writing I try to keep my chapters at 2000 words or less (8 pages or less). This also forces me to make sure the chapter is doing something in a short amount of time (each chapter should move the plot along somehow).
