Hello, everyone.

There's been a thread here about word wars on AbsoluteWrite IRC channel. It's all true. I am a member of said IRC room.

I've been watching people war on IRC for days, when an idea popped in my head, and two weeks later, it came to life:

mswishlist.com/war

It's word wars online, on a site.

Features:

  • 3 wars per hour, every hour (10/15/15 minute wars)
  • War/break count down timer
  • Optional sounds on war start/end
  • Progress tracking
  • Levels
  • Statistics
  • Monthly and "From dawn of time" Hall of Fame

It requires free registration (To keep your progress)

Also, you can see who's warring with you, and you can see a list of past wars as well as a list of warriors with their word counts.

You write in your own text editor of choice and at the end of the war record the word count on the site.

My IRC friends have been using it a lot, and found it helpful. Maybe you would too.

I've been using it for about a week now and it's been great. It's fun, it's motivating. Plus it's interesting to read the other sections of the web site as well.

Thank you for it! It's been a fun way to break my writing slump.

Bunneh ain't kidding, this is a nifty tool that has helped me to focus my butterfly attention span and write a bucketful of new words I wouldn't otherwise have had.

The site was excellent anyway before the word war section addition, but with it, it's one of the most helpful places on the internet for writers I've ever found. It's enormously motivating. Thank you, Masha!

It's taken me, a chronic self-pessimist with extreme lack of confidence in my own abilities to finish anything, and manipulated my love of grinding in RPGs and need for validation from others into productivity!

(This is not a paid testimonial but I will not object to Bunneh giving me all of the money for my endorsement.)

The whole site really is awesomesauce, but the word war feature is my favorite part of it. :D It really motivates me to try and see who I can beat on the Hall of Fame. :D

Got 2 WIPs finished now, wouldn't have got there without these wars, the bells continue to haunt me, but in a good way.
