1. Junot Díaz, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
2. Edward P. Jones, The Known World
3. Hilary Mantel, Wolf Hall
4. Marilynne Robinson, Gilead
5. Jonathan Franzen, The Corrections
6. Michael Chabon, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
7. Jennifer Egan, A Visit from the Goon Squad
8. Ben Fountain, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk
9. Ian McEwan, Atonement
10. Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, Half of a Yellow Sun
11. Zadie Smith, White Teeth
12. Jeffrey Eugenides, Middlesex

I've read three of them: numbers 3, 9 and 11. Two others (5 and 6) have been in the TBR pile for a while - they're long novels I suspect I'll have to take on holiday sometime. Two of these (2 and 8) I have to admit are new to me. Others I know about and would like to read sometime, but don't have copies to hand.

I have read so many of these I'm impressed with myself! Thank you, LRB. Thank you NYRB.

I would put #4 at #1, and there are about half a gazillion other books I'd put between #4 and 12. But that's why we have bookshops, right?

I'm quite outclassed here :) I only read about half of The Corrections.

I've read five of them. None are on my to be reread pile and all are now doing the rounds having gone to charity shops.

I've only read Wolf Hall. I wonder why Bringing Up the Bodies isn't on there?

Pretty sure I finished it...but I probably shouldn't have.

I remember liking Middlesex. That's the only other book on the list that I've read.
