4d: LATENT? "A large" = AL, set-up means reverse to get LA, big top = TENT and it means concealed.

Perfectly parsed LH! :)

I should add that I use hyphens as word splits, so the noun set-up in the surface is the verb set up in the cryptic reading.

Perfectly parsed Para! :)

I was a little reticent about side/profile - but I think one could say 'can we see the side/profile view'.

1 across ... I've got nothing. :tongue

Would:

Party time with dry sort of wine (4)

Help? :)

Agree. A profile is a side view. What happened to the middle letter? "pile" became "file"? Was "turning in" a code for something?

Would:

Party time with dry sort of wine (4)

Help? :)
Ah! I thought it might be "sect", but I wasn't totally sure if a sect qualifies as a "party" - I thought sects were religious and parties were political. I should have checked Merriam Webster, which I now see gives "party" as a synonym for "sect".

For those playing along, that's party (def) time (t) with dry sort of wine (sec).

Kaboom! We have defeated another crossword. :D

Winner! :)

Party is def number 7 in Chambers (sometimes a setter has to tap the source rather than give a better known association.

As usual, I'll post the full parse for the grid shortly. If you spotted an error in a clue or felt it didn't work somehow or wasn't fair, please let me know in thread or by PM.

Cryptic #28 will be posted May 1st. If you want to learn more about how cryptic crosswords work or want to solve a few more, there's all sorts of solving help and further puzzles on my website (link in sig). The odd numbered grids there have appeared here, but the even numbers should be new to you. :)
