Cambridge offers poets chance to make their mark on sidewalks

In Cambridge, MA, the DPW will have to replace a lot of sidewalk slabs after winter storm damage. The replacement slabs will have residents' poems embedded in them.

Barry said because most people are looking down at their smartphones as they walk, the poems will have high visibility.

I pictured block after block of sidewalk chalk poems, colorful words sticking to the bottom of people's shoes or melting into rainbow stream-lets in rain-flooded gutters . . . but this is good too! Thanks for the link!

I love Harvard Square. Back in the 1980s, I was a street performer. In summer I lived for Friday and Saturday nights juggling on the island at Brattle and Mt. Auburn Streets. Seems like a hundred years ago...
