Weis Markets Expands Allergy Alert for Weis Quality Dried Beef Party Rye Dip

Weis Markets today announced it has expanded its recall for its store-made Weis Quality Dried Beef Party Rye dip for failing to list egg and milk allergens on its label. This product was sold in eleven Weis Markets’ stores including most of its Binghamton NY area stores. The dip was also sold in its two Williamsport PA stores located on River Avenue and Lycoming Creek Road and its Hazleton PA store. This recall is being issued as a precaution. The sell by dates affected are 2/15/18 through 3/11/18.

Ciolo Foods of Lafayette, CO has voluntarily recalled it’s 7-ounce containers of “Nut-Free Basil Pesto” because they contain undeclared tree nuts (Pine Nuts and Walnuts). The recalled “Nut-Free Basil Pesto” was distributed to limited stores in Colorado, Utah, and Kansas. The product comes in a 7-ounce square clear plastic container labeled as “Nut-Free Basil Pesto”.

The affected product can be identified by the lot number ink-coded on the side of the container as Lot# BV431291, with a best by of 5/9/18.

Starwest Botanicals is voluntarily recalling Starwest Botanicals Organic Cardamom Pods Green (Whole), which is packaged in Mylar 1 pound bags and in bulk packs due to possible Salmonella.

The product was sold nationwide by several different methods. It was either shipped directly to Starwest Botanicals customers who purchased online from firm’s website or mail order customers, or held for pickup up by the customer at Starwest Botanicals. The product was sold between January 15, 2018 and March 2, 2018.

PDX Aromatics of Portland, Oregon DBA Kraken Kratom, Phytoextractum, and Soul Speciosa, has initiated a recall of certain kratom-containing powder products because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The affected powder products are packaged in plastic heat sealed pouches and sold in 28 grams, 56 grams, and 112 grams. The products total an estimated 10,000 units and were sold directly to consumers via company websites between January 18, 2018 and February 18, 2018.

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball today warned consumers not to consume The Maiden’s Creamery “Wild Meadow” Raw Goat Milk Cheese made by Mark Harvey, 1277 Copes Corner Road, South New Berlin, NY 13843 due to possible Listeria. The product is packaged in various sizes of sealed flexible plastic packaging, displaying the plant number 36-1315, with a code of 101. The consumer alert affects all packages with this code. This product was sold at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market - 101 Main St. Cooperstown, NY - during late December 2017 and early January 2018 and at the Sunflower Natural Foods Market – 75 Mill Hill Rd. Woodstock, NY 12498 – starting on January 10, 2018.

Bayer is voluntarily recalling Alka-Seltzer Plus® packages that:


Were sold only in the U.S. at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and Kroger (including Dillons Food Stores, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food Stores, Ralphs, King Soopers and Smith’s Food and Drug) after February 9, 2018.


Can be identified by checking the Bayer logo located on the lower left corner of the front of the carton. If the logo has an orange or green background, the product is included in the recall (please see attached photos).


The affected packages are being recalled because the ingredients on the front sticker may not match the actual product in the carton.

As a result of the ongoing recall of donated chia seeds that began on March 12, 2018, Oregon Food Bank has initiated a voluntary recall of 63,825 pounds of pumpkin seeds received on the same donation. These donated pumpkin seeds have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria.

The pumpkin seeds were distributed in Oregon and Clark County, Washington through the Oregon Food Bank Network of regional food banks and participating food pantries. The product was distributed in one pound plastic poly film bags with a twist-type closure or a re-sealable pouch or a KALE JOY plastic bag. All pumpkin seeds were distributed between November 1, 2017 and March 16, 2018.

This recall has been initiated due to mislabeling because some of the cans may contain Dumplings with Chicken instead of Hot Dog Chili Sauce. The Dumplings with Chicken contain egg & wheat which are not listed on the label.

PDX Aromatics, DBA Kraken Kratom, Phytoextractum, and Soul Speciosa, is again expanding the scope of their 3/9/2018 and 3/15/2018 voluntary recalls to include certain red vein and green vein kratom powder and capsule products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The expanded recall includes certain red vein powder and capsule products shipped between 12/1/2017 and 3/8/2018 and certain green vein powder and capsule products shipped between 9/18/2017 and 11/1/2017 and between 2/9/2018 and 3/8/2018.


The expanded recalled products were sold directly to internet consumers in the US through the company websites phytoextractum.com; soulspeciosa.com; and krakenkratom.com.
