Baby-boomer Jim Williams was born and raised a middle class, suburban kid until graduating from high school in 1965. Following a short, disastrous marriage and divorce during when he lost his father, mother, and daughter in unconnected deaths, he moved to San Francisco.

After a decade holding a variety of jobs, increasing mental illness resulted in his living on and off the streets for the next 15 years. After 10 years of this homelessness, he began hearing unreal voices and believed he was a practicing World President. All of this culminated in 2000 when he suffered a near-fatal assault. With his street and hearing voices days over, he began a long recovery. He started this memoir in 2011.
