Is it always ok to submit a shorter synopsis than requested?

I am just working on my list of agents to query, but want to have my synopses ready. I've prepared a longish one (5 pages) and a 1-page and 2-page version.

I know that you should give agents what they ask for--so don't send a 5-page synopsis if they asked for a 3-page one. My question: is it always ok to send a shorter synopsis? If an agent asks for a 3 page one, but I have a nice, tight 2-page version, is it ok to send that instead?

I know agents read a ton of queries and synopses, so I'm thinking they won't mind if it's shorter. But maybe they want more details and so would be specifically looking for a longer version.

So long as your 2-page synopsis shows the structure of your story, and shows that you've plotted it effectively, then that's the one I'd send out. It's time-consuming reading submissions, and a short synopsis is usually better for the reader.

Thanks! That's what I was kind of assuming. Good to have it confirmed.
