RIP Ruth Simms

Ruth Simms died unexpectedly on May 8th 2014. Ruth's m/m writing is some of the best I've read. I've reviewed her two books, "The Phoenix" which she worked on for almost 20 years, and IMO her best work, "Counterpoint".
If anyone tells you a straight woman can't write a gay love story, recommend 'Counterpoint".
The last note trembled from beneath the bow and faded like a whispered promise. This is the last line in "Counterpoint". It will always remind me of Ruth and her beautiful mind.

Ruth was one of the first persons to encourage my writing. She took time away from her own work to beta read for me, and when my books were published, Ruth reviewed each one with kindness and generosity. For all that, my conversations with her, which looking back were all too brief, are what I am most grateful for.
