I thought it would be nice to have a separate space for people to talk about their wordcounts, goals, finished/unfinished stories, and other directly writing-related check-in & support stuff.

So I made one.

Here it is.

Tell us how you're doing!

I'm working on a collection of short fiction my graduate thesis right now. I've about 20,000 words so far, with the end goal being somewhere around 50,000. So, it's going better than expected.

I'm just starting the very last rewrite on Crystal Shade: Angeni, Volume 2. It's ~180k, but hopefully i can cut it here and there. However as I know me, I rather believe that it will be longer in the end. :)

Congrats cybernaught and LOL SapphireGuardian. Yeah, my last "short story" wound up being 123k. Not so good with the brevity thing myself :)

Put 1K in on a short last night. Should top out at a 10K or so.

74K novel flying in a holding pattern while I hash out the short story.
After that edits and rewrites

Got an outline sorted for my short, and quite a few notes.

World building for a longer story about dwarves. I can't decide between a series of short stories ala Ray Bradbury's Martians, or one big long one.

I have a pile of revision notes for my fantasy novel, I just need to plow through them. I have the first chapter revised, though, which is something, anyway.

It's going to be a long, hard slog.

I finished the first revision on my newest novel, have the other one out with betas, and suddenly had a crapton of inspiration for another series that's been buzzing around in my head for over a year now. Ten characters (so far), two tragic romances, a traitor, and a villain I kinda have to admire. The plot is still really hazy, but that's alright since I'm not planning to draft this one for a year or so. Too many other ideas on my plate. The fact that I have more than a magic system is exciting enough.

Working on quite a bit at the moment. I'm writing my epic fantasy, which has turned into a complete monster. I know I can cut some words, but I doubt I'll ever get it down to 120,000.

I also have my MG fantasy on hold because I'm considering aging the characters up to YA ages, which might require a complete rewrite. Apparently, I don't capture the voice of middle school kids.

Then there are the three ideas that are in the planning stages. Not sure which one I'll end up writing first.

3 WIPs: 80K, 90K, and 140K words. All three seem like they are half-way done. Sigh. That last one will be a real anvil if some way to break it in two doesn't manifest. Goal is to finish one of them at least by the end of spring.

I'm only about 3,000 words into The Occult Collection. I'm rewriting with a different POV than I used before, so I get to make some changes to it that are definitely needed.

Goal: Write 25K in 17 days. (Realistically I know I won't, but saying it here makes me feel more official. :D)

Have a short i've reworked and want to get back out into the wilds this month. Which, looking at my schedule, will have to be done today.

Also need to get back to rewriting a finished novel draft from 1st to 3rd.

You know it's really inspiring reading this thread

*Pulls out WIP* :e2BIC:

YAY!

And yes, so much going on! Plus lots of other folks stuck in the revision mines, which makes me feel less lonely. :)

I'm about to start rewrites on the first draft of my YA fantasy novel. It's 95k at the moment, but who knows how much that'll change!

Somewhere between them and us.
My challenge: forge 130K of raw story in the hellfire of editing and beat it into something worth reading.
So help me God -.-

I'm aiming for 25,000 words in 13 days. I've added 3000 to my current WiP so far today. To think I was pessimistic! :e2cloud9:

I need to finish this flash fiction piece by Friday to make my goal to post it on my blog by then. I'm such a procrastinator. My goal is to write one flash fiction piece a month for the entire year, but we shall see if I stick to it. But I'm tired now and ready for bed.

Got the edits done. Sent the story off for a crit, too, which isn't my typical modus operandi anymore, but i feel the story needs other eyes. So i'll probably get it subbed early next month :)

Ooh, I like!

My first novel goes to my editor this weekend. Eek! She'll be done by March 3, which puts me right on track for a pub date in March. My cover designer is putting together something that feels like it'll be brilliant.

I'm excited . . . well, excited AND scared . . . <cue Sondheim>

Now I need to edit book 2 and finish book 3.

I'm currently 25 pages into a historical fantasy. Not sure on the word count because I'm using a typewriter. Hoping to have the first draft done in less than 50 days, because that's what it took to write my last one.

I really like the idea and the story I've plotted out. Hoping to sell it once finished and polished all nice and proper.
