I've never tasted fruitcake!

So that makes three traditional holiday specialties that I still haven't tried. (The other two are eggnog and Irish Coffee, as I mentioned in another thread).

You don't want to try fruitcake! BLEURGH!

Gotta say, I've never tried eggnog either. Although, I have tried a drink known as a 'snowball' which is said to be similar to eggnog. I liked it.

I like a good fruitcake. Soaked in rum, or brandy, for about six weeks, it is wonderful good.

Vernie, maybe you just got a bad one.

This is incredible--all this fruitcake shaming! Don't any of you know it boosts your immune system, makes you sexually irresistible, and leads directly to New-York-Times-Best-Selling-Author status? How do you think I got where I am today?

Kylabelle, thank heaven, is the voice of pure reason here.

Does fruitcake go well with eggnog and Irish Coffee? Despite the "BLEURGH!", I'm maybe sort of thinking about a super-dooper triple-trifecta next holiday season -- trying all three of 'em at once. You know, a "killing three birds with one stone" kind of thing.

Yes. You could do that, but you might not want to do it all in one sitting. The BLEURGH might get a bit too real that way.

:D

It has been much too long since I had a good Irish coffee, sigh.

Oh dear, I'm never going to live that 'BLEURGH' down, am I?

I'll just put it down to still feeling yucky from my kidney infection. *puts back of hand on forehead, throws head back dramatically*

No. As a matter of fact, I think we should make BLEURGH your usertitle.

You know, the little message directly under your username?

:D

(sorry you are still feeling yucky, though.)

And if/when I ever get published, I will write under the pen name B.Leurgh.

Thanks. I'm feeling better than I was (had to spend four days in hospital, which was even worse than the thought of fruitcake!). :)

Fixed that for you.

And I am very glad they did not serve fruitcake in the hospital.

Irish coffee isn't a holiday specialty - it's just a fine beverage.

Recently, I've been irishing cocoa, which is more holiday-ish I guess? I also tend to use Bailey's rather than plain whiskey. It's REALLY good.
