Ayup, it's getting to be that time of year again.

The time of year when creatures are stirring all through the house, keeping to the shadows, the pools of dark, waiting their chance to creep out and devour...

When all good children lie shivering with anticipation in their beds, dreams of blood and corpses dancing through their heads...

The time of year when a jolly old fat man somehow squeezes down a chimney and prowls through a house while the occupants are asleep...with an axe in his hands instead of a bag of toys...

When laughing elves build thousands of toys for distribution all over the world to little children on Santa's list - and the hell those toys will wreak upon the unsuspecting. Oh, yes. The elves will laugh loudest then...

When mall Santa's tenderly listen to the Christmas wishes of small children, and eye the thousands of shoppers passing them by with growing rage...

It's a time of year for the giving of gifts, those specially purposed to slice the living flesh of the recipient into ruin, of dinners and good food, laced with cyanide or polonium or a thousand other shrieking methods of inflicting agonizing death, and of celebrating the season as the snow and ice closes in, and just won't stop - ever...

Yes, dear friends. It's that time of year again for the Horror Hounds Christmas prompt.

So, give us your worst, your Christmas nightmare, your most deliciously maleficent and malignant imaginings of just how the season can turn into an utter hell of death and desolation.

There are secrets hiding beneath the snows, deep and dark and monstrous. Unearth them and throw them in our faces to drive us to the edges of our sanity and beyond by the dark knowledge they hold.

Make your tale 2-3 thousand words, post it down in Horror SYW, and let us know about them.

We'll be waiting, and watching...expectantly. Oh, how expectantly we will be waiting for you to scare the hell out (or maybe into) us.

Good luck.
