Blogger: Backup up your Content and Template

Deleted member 42

The following procedures require Admin access to Blogger.

To Backup/Export your Blogger Content:

  1. Log on to your Blogger Dashboard
  2. Click:
  3. --> specific blog--> Settings--> Export Blog (on top)
  4. Download the file Blogger produces for you.
It's an xml file which most blogging systems (Blogger and WordPress for sure) can import.

You might not get images; sometimes they will be included, sometimes not. It depends on where they're stored (Blogspot, hotlinked, Picasa . . .)

Exporting Your Blogger Template

  1. Log on to your Blogger Dashboard
  2. Click:
  3. The specific blog --> Settings --> Template
  4. Save the downloaded file.
You can import the template file and overwrite the current template

Oh, thanks so much for this advice! I thought only the lay-out would be downloaded and saved. I was always worried that my blog would disappear (with everything I wrote) one day, never to be recovered.
