What is Ask.fm?

I noticed that my little cousin has been posting links to her Ask.fm page--but what is it exactly? Is it a social network? Is it microblogging? It looks like all they do is ask each other questions.

--From someone who is clearly over the age of 25.

It's a site where users can ask people questions. That's pretty much it.

I don't use it, but a lot of people I follow on twitter do. You create an account and people can ask you anything they want. It's similar to formspring, which was popular a few years ago. I know a lot of people who got bullied on formspring and got sent anonymous/rude questions, so your cousin might want to be cautious.

Thanks. Really begs the question of "why?" and "huh?" I'm not really sure why a teenager would consider this fun. But then again, some people don't get Facebook either.
