Spent some time in the veldt
Though really not tryin’
He fought with a lion
He made a fancy white pelt

Some old farts from Absolute Write
Engaged in poetical fight.
An African feline . . .
A Texan so fine.
Their words made a beautiful sight!

You people are awesome!


When entering the Bar of Old Farts,
(Which we do, in fits and starts),
One consistently finds
That we've not lost our minds,
And we're more than the sum of our parts*.




* Okay, the less said about our parts, the better.

I meant hiding the bits
Upon which one sits,
'Cos they shouldn't be publicly aired.

Happy Columbus Day, all you senior residents able to recall when Chris wasn't vilified for getting lost and landing where a couple of new continents broke off eons ago.

Of course Columbus and his sailors weren't first here, but his crew was the first to carry news and evidence back to Europe.

It deserves a day to take off from work and fly flags. Thanks for your service, Chris.

So sad. All once active residents of the infirmary are now strapped into their beds so they don't fall out.

Wow Lookee here. When Haggis started this thread in 2008, I was a youthful and handsome 50. Now, over a decade later, look. Ya'll are old and I'm still youthful and handsome.

I'm back, got lost somewhere between here and there, hope every one is okay; looks like the responses here have been few lately. Real life keeps kicking me in the butt but so far I keep kicking back.

We have Haggis back and Laverne08 is missing. Has anyone ever seen those two in the same room at the same time? Hmmmmmm.....

I'm still waiting for my super powers. I had the 2nd shot of Pfizer yesterday. And I'm bitterly disappointed. I did not foam at the mouth and get weird... more than usual. I checked, and I still do not glow in the dark. This is such a letdown.
But I'm giving 'em one last chance. According to popular belief around these parts, Bill Gates has filled all the vaccines with nanobots that can track everyone's movements. This is my last hope. The next time I am lost on one of these godforsaken, unmarked dirt roads around our town, I will call up National Security and tell them what an oxymoron they are. Within 10 minutes I expect to be surrounded by whole lot of cool dudes in dark suits, wearing check-me-back sunglasses and saying, 'Oh yeaaaah?'* If this doesn't happen, I might file a class** suit.

* Don't all you smartypants' tell me they could find me through my phone. I have a whole closet full of turtleneck tops that hide all my wrinkles. I know about cloaking!!
** A 'class' lawsuit means that you do it with panache, darling.

Funny you mention Bill Gates and the vaccine - and sure most have seen this but just in case there's a few that haven't...rumor has it there has been an occasional instance of bruising around the spot of your vaccine injection:

I thought about writing something witty, but my muse has taken a long vacation to who knows where.
