Question: what does HWA consider "dark literature" for membership? I'm very close of making my goal of applying for active membership - ten qualifying poetry sales. I write atmospheric, macabre pieces, not horror per se. Any thoughts on this? Advice?

I'll have all my ducks in a row when applying, of course, but they're not very clear as to what "dark literature" is.

Not an expert, but I'm pretty sure "atmospheric, macabre pieces" will more than suffice. Generally the horror net is relatively broad, and I think the macabre is well-within the definition of modern horror. FWIW.

You can probably e-mail one of the HWA people and ask. (I'd suggest Ms. Morton because she's the VP and comes across as helpful on facebook)
