My goals for 2013 (madness!):

  1. Edit the 2 books I finished writing last year and find homes for them
  2. Edit another book that is about half written
  3. Write 2 new books
  4. Write 2 novellas
  5. Write 12 new shorts (Write1Sub1 FTW!)
  6. Put up some free fiction
  7. Write a serial and start posting it online in the Spring (I may be looking for beta readers soon!)
  8. Expand my copy writing business
  9. Write a million words!
As for that last one, I'm taking part in the Million Word Challenge. If you want to learn more about it, check out the blog and cheer us on!

Well, as I said in the other goals thread:

1. finish the god-forsaken PhD so that I have more time for fiction writing!

Also,

2. write and produce play (as part of said PhD)
3. maybe-actually-hopefully publish one of the four stories I've currently got out on the rejection rounds.
4. write more stories (PhD-cramming time permitting)

Good luck to all! :)

1. First off get back into writing. I've gotten kinda side tracked with other things.
2. READ!!!! READ ME MORE! READ ME MORE! READ ME MORE!
3. Start back writing, editing and submitting flash fiction and short stories. Got 3 published last year, hopefully I'll surpass that this year.

I am brand new to W1S1. My goals for this year are only things within my control:

1. Accumulate 100 rejections (combination of agent and short story subs)
2. Write at least one short story per month
3. Finish current WIP
4. Query agents
5. Participate in and win NaNoWriMo

Hi all! I'm another newbie to W1S1; I figure this is an excellent place to set my 2013 writing goals in concrete.

1. Write something every damn day, without fail.
2. Finish all those orphan stories festering in my archives.
3. Participate in W1S1 monthly.
4. Get my game together enough to even think about applying to Clarion/Clarion West next year.

My goal is to stop procrastinating, and write 1000 words a day. At present, some days I write thousands of words, and others, nothing. I'd like to establish a continuous pattern in terms of word count.

Wooo! 2013!

1. Write at least four more short stories (did one already!) and submit to markets
2. Draft and revise the next novel
3. Start drafting another one
4. Submit the two manuscripts I completed in 2012 to agents
5. Self-publish one of them by the end of the year
6. Finish revising and self-publish the novella
7. Start rumination on world-spanning, multiple-POV epic fantasy series

My only goal for 2012 was to publish something by the end of the year. Did that.

Also subbed a novella and got a contract. Bonus!

For 2013 I'd like to:

1. Work on The Trouble with Memories SFR and pub it
2. Pub another anthology or maybe more. First will be Distopia/Post Apoc stories.
3. Submit at least one more novella to the same publisher.
4. Submit one more novella to a different publisher.
5. Begin work on a novel-length work.

It's number 5 that scares the pants off me!

Most people here seem to want an agent. I can't even begin to consider the pressure of having an agent, and working a 40 hour work week, plus doing yoga and hiking and having a life in general. So that's not on my wish list. Not sure if it ever will be.

Good luck to everyone in 2013! Woot!

Hello all, in keeping with my resolution to work at becoming part of the writing community at large, my first goal for the year will be to read on post here at AW at least three time a week. The rest is pretty standard stuff: continue to query my first urban fantasy novel - say 10 new queries a month (don't know if that's reasonable or not); outline, draft and complete six revisions of a second full length book by Xmas 2013. Oh, and not miss getting the damn garbage can out to the curb on Tuesday nights.

In 2013 I want to...

  • Finish the draft of my first novel, Silver Linings
  • Start drafting it's sequel, Black Clouds
  • Start rewriting Silver Linings and reach at least 50k words
  • Attend World Fantasy Convention
  • Get a short story published (in an anthology, magazine or other)

I am halfway through my draft so that should be done by summer and I am in the process of writing a short story for the Sword & Laser Anthology. Attending the WFC is a maybe, as I need to get the money together before tickets sell out >.<
