But yeah, I think that's why I cringe every time I think of the poor folks who got Sandy'd. Florida at least was warm. I hatey mchate the cold and the thought of a cold weather hurricane seems too cruel.

So, I made it through my last teaching day really, really well. Finished with students applauding and telling us we were awesome, which was nice.

Only to come home and suddenly find myself literally stuck in my driveway, because I couldn't get my car into park or reverse for that matter. I thought for sure my automatic transmission was shot. So I spent about fifteen minutes sitting there with my foot on the brake before Supervisor Friend came over to be my Knight in Shining Armor and help me push my car into the street so I could drive it to the mechanic to get it fixed. I was dreading that the transmission would be shot. Instead it just was a broken gear shifter, which my mechanic expertly and quickly fixed.

Um, yeah, yikes. Have to admit, car stuff freaks me out. I guess you know your happy pills are working when instead of getting a total panic attack you're actually totally calm about stuff.

Anyway, now I go grade term finals.

great to be writing again. when i left,
i was totally SO not into it. i had been working
on multiple revisions on the first novel, and
my heart simply wasn't into it.

now, the mojo is back. watch out! 8)

i don't have an outline, as usual, but have
at least 4 or 5 scenes that definitely need to
be written dotted throughout the course of the
novel.

OMG. You know what would be perfect? Some kind of shifting ink, where when you stick it on the MS, it says "Fucking Genius," but like twelve hours later, it has faded to say "Shit." Because that's how it works.

Thanks for the car-yay's everyone. Seriously, this was so not what I needed today, but it's all good now. I'll take a $47 repair over a $3,000 transmission any day (yes, I almost threatened my mechanic to wildly make out with him for making this an easy fix... )

All student finals are graded and grades are entered (don't I feel all official now). Now I've got two more reviews to put up on the YA blog and I get to work on this semester's creative writing stuff. Yes, I'm actually going to write stuff! *gasp!*

Back from clothes shopping with my youngest, who is easy to please compared to my daughter. Standard khakis and cargo pants are fine, hikers, a basic hat. I could do more shopping if it all went like this.

So, I totally forgot to share my hilarious student story of the day with you.

I was using this clip from the B1G B@NG TH30RY to introduce Chaucer's "The Miller's Tale" (we are doing The Canterbury Tales still) and afterwards one of my students goes: "So, Ms. F, is "nether ye" another word for "female downstairs" or what?"

And just as he says this, the kid sitting next to him turns bright flaming red. Like full-body affair. And the fact that he had red hair wasn't helping. Poor kid.

Apparently I did a good job of at least traumatizing one of my students...
