Oh come ON. You know your adorabuhl little avatar standing, all confused, kneedeep in buttery mashed spuds would be just DELICIOUS

Potatoes for me as well. Baked or boiled, with butter, sour cream, salt, and fresh-ground pepper.

Our next-door neighbor has a huge rosemary bush in her yard, and lets us take some when we want it. I discovered that if you heat the milk and butter with some chopped fresh rosemary before mixing it into the potatoes... oh, gods, I may have to go out and get some now.

I like crab legs (and am fond of lobster, but less so), but I get satiated from eating them long before I get tired of breaking them open and extracting the meat -- I'm the person you want sitting next to you at an all-you-can-eat crab fest.

Mine tends to change, seasonally. Right now, it's fresh, tender, fragrant young fennel.

Middle Eastern garlic sauce slathered on pita bread right out of the oven. There are many restaurants in my area that serve this. I eat this when I know I won't be around people for a day or two.

Gazpacho.

Steak Tartare.

Eggs Benedict.

Abalone steaks, pounded thin, dipped in egg wash and flour then sauteed in butter, with fresh lemon served on the side.

Ted Peters' smoked fish (mullet or mackerel) from St. Petersburg, FL.

Dammit, now I'm hungry.

Curry laksa from a place here in Wellington.
Enormous bowl of spicy coconut noodle soup with big chunks of chicken, prawns and squid... excuse me while I drool on my keyboard.

Also Ben and Jerrys' ice cream which is currently available everywhere except New Zealand.
Making me choose between the laksa and the ice cream isn't really fair :(

I'm on my monthlies right now, so I am badly craving boqueroni. And handmade burgers with mayo and gerkins. And bananas. And chocolate.

Hmm, I know it sounds trashy, but for me it's salami pizza (only homemade) and kimchi ramen noodle soup.

Pol sambol. (It's a Sri Lankan dish made with freshly shredded coconut, lots of hot cayenne so it's reddish-orange in colour, onions, green chillies, and Maldive fish. And it's yummy!)

Onion rings. Specifically, mine. I make them rather spicy. :D

Spicy battered deep fried squid or cuttlefish.

Fried chicken. Again, mine. Cuz I make it spicy. And oh boy it's good.

Yeah, I've really learned how to cook things perfectly for my own taste buds. Eek!

Lasagne, mac and cheese and pizza. Oh and a really good cup of coffee... Does that count as a food group?

In my book it does. :)

Garlic toast--toasted slices of crusty Italian bread drizzled/poured w. olive oil and fresh chopped garlic. Done right, that will really ooze from your pores the next day. And the next and the next.... But it is so good.

Potatoes. Creamer potatoes, boiled, with butter and rosemary and sour cream and fresh ground pepper and salt. I think I might be able to eat enough of them to get tired, but I've never had the opportunity. (There are two other potato eaters in this household.)

So many!

One of my favs, but I don't do it any more (or try not to), is oreo cookies and grapefruit juice. Not dunked or anything, just side by side. There's something about that dark chocolate cookie and sweet creamy inside and bitter grapefruit juice. Yummm. It was my go to breakfast, or lunch or dinner for many years.

Today I'm all alone and making something super delicious just for me. Eggplant parmesean with fresh mozerella and homemade (of course) tomato sauce made with San Marzano tomatos and caramelized onions and peppers.

If the family is lucky there might be something left for them.
