ok,
It's going to get nasty around here pretty soon. I estimate that I will lose power around 2 AM and won't be able to go out and start the generator until about noon tomorrow. So I'll update everyone once I get things settle about.

If my generator doesn't survive, I will be going in to work around 4ish and I'll talk to you then.

Only expecting around 100 mph but there should be a whole lot of tornadoes.

See you guys pretty soon.

Mike

Yikes. Take care. I watched 85mph winds two years ago with Isabelle in Richmond, VA and was impressed. The power outages get old after about 48 hours...

Be safe.

Take care, Mike. Hope you'll be safe. I'm worried too. We're in Northern Fla. and my 87-year-old mom is in West Palm Beach, so I'm really worried about her. Hope everyone will be aokay and your power will be restored quickly.

Prayers for everyone there.

Including my mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and my son.

Bloody fabulous.

Well, I can tell ya'll that central FL is taking a lump from the tornadoes popping off. We've been under tornado watch all night, expected to last until noonish today. So far, I've heard three tornado confirmations in Polk/Hillsborough. The cold front seems to be pushing her along, but she's definately making herself known.

Hope the southern Floridians are hanging in there okay. Keep us posted guys.

They expect Wilma to be past Florida and into the Atlantic, in just a few more hours. It sounds like more people stayed in the Keys planning to ride it out, than they expected.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

I know it's a major hassle and that traffic snarls are a given, but I can't understand the logic of those who chose to ride it out on such low ground as the Florida Keys. The figure I heard was 80 to 85% of the locals in the Keys weren't budging.

I hope every one of them hasn't even got a close-call story to share, come tomorrow, but I fear they won't all be so fortunate.

Maryn, with great respect for how incredibly nasty Mother Nature can be

Any news from the Florida crew?

The news says wet, messy, and expensive.

My folks are all right. Some trees down, and a small enclosed patio is now exposed...power out, phones down, cell phones are intermittent.

Anybody heard anything from the rest of the Florida crew?

[WACK!] Ow, I just got smacked right upside the head with a bagful of praye rs...special delivery, airmail. Thanks y'all [rubs lump on head].

I am on generator at home but cable went out with power. I will beat up on Comcast later.

I've got wireless up at work so I can read but my time is short.
We got approximately 115 mph winds in my neighborhood and a ton of tornadoes. 2 houses 2 doors down lost thier roofs, all trees are down.
All power lines are down everywhere. I'll be without power for about 3 to 4 weeks.

Not too much house or structural damage considering the severity. Our building codes were the toughest in the nation when we were built.

My house is the only one that didn't lose even 1 roof tile because I spent an extra $10,000 for the 30 year architectural shingles.

gotta go...update soon.

I know you won't see this for a while, but I'm sure I speak for us all when I say, Whew, he's all right!

Maryn, glad
